Odours are the most authentic testimony of every population or social entity. The religious and pagan use of perfumes by ancient Egyptians, Romans or Greeks are well known to us due to their cultural and geographical similarity. As well as spices, which, even with their exotic mysterious content, are fairly familiar to us.
However, we are less familiar with the traditions of the Far East linked to flowers, fruits and their perfumes, and given the linguistic difficulties it is not always easy to discover some practices related to cultures which are far from us in time and distance. Asian literature is rich in stories and legends linked to flowers and perfumes.
