The term Aloe (Állo eh in Arabic, Halal in Hebrew, Alo hei in Chinese, Aloe in  western countries) derives from the Greek root Als or Alos, which means bitter substance, salty as the water of the sea. Surrounded  since ancient times by a fascinating mystical and magical halo, aloe has always been considered a sort of panacea able to cure all human illnesses thanks to its multiple properties.

Aloe is a succulent, evergreen plant. It has the ability to live in arid environments and to survive in periods of long drought. A curious characteristic is that it can also be classified as one of the rare antipollution houseplants, due to its marked ability to free oxygen and to constantly absorb carbon dioxide, even at night.
The species comprehends about 350 separate varieties in terms of type and place of origin. Once mature, after 3-4 years, only a few varieties contain an elevated range of precious elements that can have a positive effect on the harmonious synergy of the human organism.

Aloe Barbadensis: originally from Barbados it is now intensively cultivated all over the world. Commonly call Aloe Vera, it can reach a maximum height of 70-100 cm and lives generally 5-7 years. The leaves are very big with a border of thorns which can be from 6 to 20 cm long. Both for its easy, high return cultivation and handling ease due to the dimension of the leaves, it is ideal for the cosmetic industry.
