Among the Himalayan rhododendron bushes lives a kind of deer (Moschiferus of Moschus) a silent and solitary mammal, who feeds only on dandelion buds and honeysuckle. Different from other deer, it does not have horns and it is the most harmless of all creatures. It does however have a characteristic odour, and with this invisible presence it not only dominates its native forests but the whole world.
The perfume was very important in Middle Eastern culture. The mystical ownerships of musk were so highly considered in Arabic countries that it was crushed in the mortar and mixed with the plaster of the walls of the mosques so they exhaled perfume in the warmest hours of the day. Mohammed considered it to be above all other perfumes.
